RE: Resolutions for White House Conference on Aging (WHCOA)

Sign-Ons needed by July 29

Decisions are now being made about the 100 resolutions that the delegates to the White House Conference on Aging will be considering in December. Over 1,000 resolutions have been submitted - so now is the time to put resolutions that impact current and future residents on the table.

Please respond to Deanna Okrent, Consultant who is coordinating the NCCNHR WHCOA initiative, at dokrent@nccnhr.org - tell her the name of your organization and the resolution(s) you support. NCCNHR will then submit the resolutions with the names of the supportive organizations.

These resolutions were developed by the sponsors of the April 29th WHCOA event - NCCNHR, NASOP (National Association of State Ombudsman Programs), NALLTCO (National Association of Local Ombudsman Programs), NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys) and the Center for Medicare Advocacy - with input from the conference participants, residents, family members, ombudsmen, citizen advocates, and concerned individuals and organizations. To read the resolutions and the full report (as well as the powerful presentations) please go to http://www.nccnhr.org/govpolicy/246_1274_11335.cfm

The Resolutions are:
1) A Comprehensive National Policy for Facility-Based Long-Term Care
2) Ensuring Quality of Life in Long-Term Care Facilities
3) Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
4) Medicaid and Long-Term Care

Text of the resolutions may be found at http://www.nccnhr.org/govpolicy/246_1274_11335.cfm
